Spicy cucumber salad

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 50 ml vinegar (light rice vinegar)
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce (from the Asian store)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cucumber(s)
  • 2 shallots
  • 1 small chili pepper(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Stir in the vinegar, tamarind puree, fish sauce, sugar, and salt, and bring to a boil. Let the marinade cool. Wash the cucumber, halve it, and cut it into wafer-thin slices. Clean the chili pepper, remove the seeds, and finely dice it. Peel the shallots and finely slice them. Mix everything together. Let the salad marinate for at least 30 minutes. Season with vinegar and sugar before serving.
