Spicy tomato jam

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g tomatoes
  • 500 g gelling sugar, 1:1
  • 1 small chili pepper(s), hot
  • 1 clove(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

The ultimate tip for the barbecue season. Tastes great with meat, fish, and vegetables, or simply on toast or baguette.

Peel, halve, and deseed the tomatoes. Cut into small cubes. Clean and deseed the chili pepper (depending on taste), then finely chop. Mix the chili with the tomatoes and preserving sugar and let it steep overnight. The next day, add the chili, tomato, and sugar mixture to a large saucepan with the clove and bring to a boil. Then simmer for 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove the clove and pour the hot jam into hot, rinsed twist-off jars. Close the jars tightly and turn upside down for a few minutes. This makes about 2 x 250 ml jars.
