Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp clove powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup of sultanas, or currants
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • Fat and flour for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Fanouropita, egg-free, dairy-free, chocolate-free, no blender required

Mix all ingredients with a wooden spoon. The dough should feel fairly firm. Pour into a rectangular baking dish that has been oiled and floured beforehand and bake for 45 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) using conventional oven (top/bottom heat, no fan). It tastes best the next day! Note: The cup should hold 250 ml.
