Storing white asparagus: You have these options
Peeled asparagus does not keep for more than two days without losing its aroma. Unpeeled asparagus can be stored for four days.
- Wrap the asparagus airtight in cling film and place it in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator.
- Alternatively, place the asparagus in a damp kitchen towel. Wrap it around the asparagus and store the package in the fridge as well.
- Do not store the peeled asparagus spears for longer than two days. Otherwise, they dry out and the aroma is lost.
- Tip: If the asparagus ends are already dried, cut them off and place the asparagus in a glass of cold water for ten minutes.
Green Asparagus: How to store it
Green asparagus is usually not peeled. It is also kept for four days in the refrigerator or in a cool place.
- Store the asparagus upright. The ends must stand in the water. It is best to place the asparagus in a vase or glass that is large enough and stable.
- Take cling film and wrap it around the asparagus heads.
- It is best to store the asparagus in the refrigerator. If this is not possible, find a cool place out of direct sunlight.
