Sushi Burger Recipe – The Japanese Classic with a Difference

Burgers are popular in every variant, why not try a sushi burger? The finger food is delicious, the recipe is simple and the burger is also healthy.

Sushi burger – that’s hidden behind the finger food

Sushi burgers are all the rage, and unlike some other hype, here you can join in and enjoy them worry-free. Depending on the ingredients you use, the sushi burgers are also relatively low in calories, making them a great snack for a cozy evening in front of the TV.

  • In contrast to many well-known burgers, the sushi burger scores above all with its healthy ingredients.
  • The basic ingredients for the burger are sushi rice and fish or chicken. Which fish you choose is up to your taste. Fresh salmon and tuna are just as suitable for the sushi burger. Alternatively, use lean chicken.
  • You will also need rice vinegar, rice wine, and some sugar and salt. When creating the sauce or mayonnaise, you can let off steam as you please. Depending on your taste, use lime juice and/or soy sauce.
  • A spicy tomato or yogurt sauce also tastes great. Avocados and wasabi give your sushi burger sauce the right Asian touch.

The recipe: how to prepare it

The first thing to do is prepare the rice. Put the rice in a sieve and hold it under running water until it runs clear.
The sushi rice is then placed in a pot of water and cooked according to the instructions on the packaging. The sushi rice is usually boiled briefly and then left to simmer for about 20 minutes over low heat.

  • After the rice has swollen and finished cooking, let it rest for a good 30 minutes. It is best to put the sushi rice in the fridge.
  • While the rice is resting, prepare the fish and any sauce or mayonnaise of your choice.
  • Form the meanwhile cooled sticky rice into small patties. If you aren’t quite as adept at it, simply use a round shape of the appropriate size to help. Make sure the rice patties are not too thin.
  • Finally, add the prepared ingredients to the rice patties and the sushi burgers are ready.
  • The savory finger food also tastes delicious in the vegan version, for example with cream cheese and fresh tomato and cucumber pieces.
