Boil Water: This Trick Is Very Quick

Boil water faster: The trick with salt

A well-known trick to boiling water faster is to add salt directly. Others, on the other hand, think that salt should be added to the boiling water first.

  • In fact, this trick won’t save you any time. If you add salt to the pasta water, the boiling point will increase. The water only boils at around 101 degrees Celsius.
  • If you add the salt to the already boiling water, it must also rise from 100 to 101 degrees to continue boiling. It doesn’t matter if you add the salt earlier or later, in both situations you only lose a few seconds.

Boil water faster: These tricks help

Choose a larger pot to bring the water to a boil as quickly as possible. The larger the base of the pot, the faster the heat is transferred to the water.

  • Turn on the stove and put the lid on the pot. In this way, the heat is stored in the pot as best as possible. You can save minutes compared to a pot without a lid, depending on the size.
  • The quickest way to do this is with the help of a kettle. Fill the kettle full and bring the water to a boil. At the same time, you can already heat the remaining water in the pot on the stove. This is not only much faster but also saves energy.
