Maultaschen with delicious onion sauce and cheese gratin

Place the Maultaschen in a baking dish (do not pre-cook). Peel the onions, halve them, then slice them again (like quarters, but not all the way through), then cut into slightly thicker slices. Place them in a pan with oil or butter and sauté until translucent. Dust the sautéed onions with about 4 tablespoons of flour, stir until lightly browned, then add the milk and bring to a boil (to make a roux). Season the sauce with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and a little paprika, and add a handful of cheese. Pour the sauce over the Maultaschen and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in the oven at 200°C (fan oven) for about 30 minutes. Delicious served with a green salad.
