Swedish Köttbullar

The perfect swedish köttbullar recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 120 ml Milk
  • 100 g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Shallot
  • 4 El Butter
  • 500 g Minced meat
  • 1 Egg size M
  • Salt pepper
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 100 ml Meatsoup
  • 100 g Cream
  • Cranberries from the glass
  1. Put the breadcrumbs in a bowl and pour hot milk over them, leave to stand for about 10 minutes.
  2. Peel and dice the shallot and sauté in 1 tablespoon of hot butter until translucent. Let cool down. Mix with the minced meat, egg, breadcrumbs and season with salt and pepper. Knead everything into a dough. If necessary, add a little more breadcrumbs or milk. Shape it into small balls. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan and fry the balls in it for about 10 minutes until golden brown. Take out and keep warm.
  3. Heat the remaining butter in the pan, stir in the flour. Deglaze with the stock and cream and loosen the roast set. Simmer gently while stirring for about 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Arrange the Köttbullar in portions on plates. Serve with cranberries. Boiled potatoes and salad go well with this.
