Sweet and Sour Fish
The perfect sweet and sour fish recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 600 g Fish fillet, e.g. saithe or cod
- 150 g Bean sprouts
- 1 piece Onion
- 2 piece Paprika
- 150 g Tk-Peas
- 1 tbsp Sesame or peanut oil
- 375 ml Vegetable broth
- Salt pepper
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Mangochutney, alternatively apricot jam
- 1 tsp Cornstarch, max. 2 tsp
- 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
- 1 Msp Sambal Oelek
- Finely dice the onion, cut the paprika into strips. Drain the sprouts. Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces, season with salt and pepper.
- Heat the oil in a wok or large pan. Fry the fish in it for a few minutes on all sides. Take out and set aside.
- Sauté the onion cubes in the remaining frying fat. Add paprika and peas and cook for a few minutes. Deglaze with the vegetable stock. Stir in the mango chutney, soy sauce and rice vinegar and simmer for a few minutes.
- Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water, then stir into the sauce while stirring and thicken the sauce with it. Season the sauce to taste and, if necessary, season with pepper, soy sauce, etc. Stir in the sambal oelek. Add the fish and sprouts and heat in them.
