Sweet and sour pork

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g pork
  • Soy sauce
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 bell peppers, red
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 1 small can of pineapple
  • 1 onion(s)
  • n. B. garlic
  • Tomato paste
  • oil
  • 2 cups broth
  • 4 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Salt
  • ¼ tsp sambal oelek
  • some cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Mix the ingredients for the marinade. Dice the meat and marinate for about 1 hour. Then coat it in the flour and starch mixture and fry quickly over high heat. Cut the vegetables into strips and fry them, giving the peppers the shortest cooking time. Then add all the other ingredients and simmer briefly. Finally, add the starch mixed with a little water to thicken. Pour the mixture over the cooked meat before serving. Variations: Instead of pork, you can also use chicken, beef, duck, or game, or even fish! The vegetables can be varied as desired; you can use honey instead of sugar.
