Sweet and sour tofu

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 package of firm tofu
  • 60 g tomato paste, or ketchup
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar, white
  • 1 shot of water
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • some salt
  • some starch flour
  • some oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Wash the tofu, toss in the starch, and fry in hot oil on both sides until lightly browned. Remove from the pan and add a little water, tomato paste, and the other ingredients. Bring everything to a boil, season to taste. Return the tofu to the sauce, heat through once more, and serve. Tips: You can use ketchup instead of tomato paste, or a mix of ketchup and tomato paste. I must say, though, that I don’t have any German comparison values, as here in China you can buy a tomato sauce that’s neither really paste nor really ketchup. That’s why seasoning is so important; it should be a good mix of sweet and sour.
