Sweet cherry chutney

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 100 g sugar
  • 500 g sweet cherries, pitted
  • 150 ml red wine vinegar
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp peppercorns, pickled green

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Sauté the onion in butter until golden brown. Add the sugar and caramelize until light. Add the remaining ingredients, except the peppercorns, and simmer for about 40 minutes until thickened. The cherries can break down a bit. If the mixture is still too runny, reduce further. Add the peppercorns and simmer briefly. Remove the cinnamon stick. Pour the chutney into sterilized jars and seal immediately.
