Sweet pasta bake with egg whites

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g pasta
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 cans of mandarin oranges, 175 g drained weight each, or other fruits
  • 50 g raisins
  • Water, hot, for soaking
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp cream
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • 3 tbsp butter flakes
  • 50 g almond flakes
  • Butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Cook the pasta in the milk according to the package instructions, drain, and set aside. Drain and drain the mandarin oranges. Soak the raisins in hot water for 5 minutes. Drain the water and squeeze the dry liquid out of the raisins. Mix the egg yolks with the butter, cream, and sugar. Add the raisins and mandarin oranges and mix with the cooked pasta. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold in. Transfer the mixture to a buttered baking dish and top with butter flakes. Bake the sweet pasta bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 40 minutes. Serve sprinkled with flaked almonds. Tip: Other fruit can be used instead of mandarin oranges.
