Sweet Potatoes with an Organic Seal on the Skin

When I was shopping for sweet potatoes, I noticed that they had the organic seal right on the skin. Is this safe for me?

In the meantime, more and more organic vegetable and organic fruit varieties are being marked with laser marking. This method is also called “natural branding”. It was already approved by the European Union in 2013 as a new type of food labeling. It has been approved and declared harmless by the organic certification bodies.

With this marking method, the color pigments of the outer shell layer are removed with a laser beam. This lettering is permanent. The taste and shelf life of the products remain unchanged.

With the laser method, organic fruit and vegetables can be offered without packaging or labels. This meets the desire of many consumers to do without plastic or other packaging materials.
