Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 potatoes
  • 200 g macaroni
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 150 g bacon cubes
  • 200 g cheese (mixture for cheese spaetzle), grated
  • 250 ml cream
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Peel and dice the potatoes, then cook with the pasta until tender. If necessary, add the pasta to the cooking water a few minutes later. In the meantime, slice the onions and fry them with the bacon. Drain the potatoes and pasta and mix with the onions and bacon. Layer this mixture with the cheese in a gratin dish. Season the cream with a little pepper and nutmeg, if desired, and pour over the mixture. Bake in the oven at 150°C for about 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Mix briefly again at the table. In Switzerland, apple sauce is served with this dish. Not everyone likes it; salad is also fine.
