The Principles of The Paleo Diet

The Paleo Diet: Eat like in the Stone Age

As the name suggests, the goal of the Paleo diet is to avoid processed foods and raw materials. Instead, with this diet, you can only eat what our ancestors could already eat in the Stone Age.

  • What you can eat: Meat, fish, vegetables, fruit (in moderation), nuts, seeds, eggs, animal fats, mushrooms, and herbs.
  • You must avoid sugar, dairy products, flour, bread, cereals, alcohol, vegetable fats (except olive and coconut oil), and products with additives.

That’s what the Paleo diet promises

If you want to lose weight very quickly, the Paleo diet may not be for you. The stone age diet is more of a way of life that you need to follow long-term in order to achieve success.

  • The Paleo diet is very low in carbohydrates because you have to avoid wheat and sugar. In the long term, this leads to weight loss and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity.
  • However, due to the lack of carbohydrates and the increased consumption of meat and fish, you consume more fat. This, in turn, can adversely affect your weight and health.
  • The Paleo diet is all about cutting out processed foods as much as possible. In the Stone Age, there were no additives or complex processing options.
  • Conventional household sugar, for example, only gets its white color from being refined and is, therefore, one of the foods that you should avoid on the Paleo diet.
  • It is important that you deal with the preparation of your food and cook things yourself instead of buying a ready-made product.
