  • 1 ½ tbsp BBQ sauce (Timms BBQ Sauce), from the database
  • Sea salt
  • pepper
  • olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 28 minutes

I prepare this burger in a charcoal kettle grill, which needs half direct heat and the other half indirect heat. The temperature should be 180°C. First, place the bacon on the grill over direct heat and let it brown nicely. In the meantime, put the ground beef and steak tartare in a bowl (both should be at room temperature!). Remove the bacon from the grill and chop it finely on a chopping board. Add the chopped bacon to the meat and mix everything together evenly. Now you can form the patty from the meat mixture. Make sure the patty is about 2 cm larger in diameter than the bun. Use a tablespoon to make a deep, large indentation in the center of the patty. This will even out later during grilling, and your burger will be the perfect size. Peel the onion and slice it into as fine rings as possible. Wash the tomato, remove the stem, and slice it. Wash the lettuce and pat it dry with kitchen paper. Now you’re perfectly prepared and have everything you need at the grill later. Tim’s heavenly burger sauce and Tim’s BBQ sauce should also be ready; you can find both recipes on Chefkoch.de. Drizzle some olive oil on the patty and rub it evenly. Season the meat on both sides with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Grill the patty for 1.5 minutes over direct heat with the lid closed. Then turn the patty over and grill the other side for 1.5 minutes over direct heat. Now place the patty in the indirect heat, add the cheese, and let it rest for 3 minutes with the lid closed. Grill the top and bottom of the burger bun for about 15 seconds over direct heat. The bun should be nicely toasted, but definitely not burnt! Now assemble the burger as follows: bottom of the burger bun, BBQ sauce, red onions, meat, tomatoes, lettuce, and the top of the burger bun rubbed with burger sauce. Enjoy this incredibly delicious burger, you’ll love it!
