Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g chicken breast fillet(s)
  • 2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp peanut oil
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 can of bamboo shoots
  • 250 g mushrooms
  • 125 g sprouts (bean sprouts)
  • 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce (Ketjap manis)
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 3 dl chicken broth
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 cm ginger root
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Chop Suey, much healthier and better because it is made without monosodium glutamate

Cut the chicken breast fillets into pieces and finely chop the vegetables and mushrooms. Briefly fry the meat and set aside. Sauté the onions, garlic, and ginger, then add the remaining vegetables and fry for 5 minutes. Add the meat and stir well. Pour over the chicken stock and mix with the soy sauce, sambal oelek, and fish sauce. Let everything simmer for about 10 minutes at low heat. Stir in the dissolved cornstarch and bring back to a boil. Serve with rice or noodles (bami).
