Tornado or Spiral Potatoes

The perfect tornado or spiral potatoes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 4 medium sized Potatoes
  • 80 g Dissolved butter
  • 80 g Grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Garlic salt
  • 4 Wooden skewers
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °. Brush the potatoes thoroughly under running water. Dry off and pierce a wooden skewer in the middle.
  2. Now carefully cut into the potatoes in a spiral with a sharp knife. Then gently pull the individual slats apart so that a spiral becomes visible. This has to be done a little cautiously so that you don’t tear them apart.
  3. First brush the spirals all around with half of the melted butter. Then mix the Parmesan and spices and sprinkle the spirals thoroughly with them. It should also get into the spaces in between.
  4. Then place the skewers either on a grid or on the edge of a vessel. They shouldn’t be resting anywhere. Place the grid or container in the middle of the oven and bake the potatoes for about 35 – 40 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, spread the remaining butter over the top. Later make a cooking test with a sharp knife.
  5. Remove from the skewer for consumption and serving. They are very aromatic, tasty and …………. decorative ………… 😉
