Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 1 veal heart(s), approx. 300 g
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 garlic clove(s)
- 250 ml tomato sauce or pureed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
- 1 bunch of thyme
- 1 tsp chili flakes
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan). Meanwhile, cut the veal heart into 1 cm thick slices, removing any fat and fibers. Sear them in rapeseed oil on both sides. Peel and slice the onion and garlic. Oil a small casserole dish (barely larger than the heart), add the onion and garlic slices, and place the fried veal heart slices tightly on top. Season with chili flakes and thyme and add enough tomato sauce to just cover the veal hearts. Cover the casserole dish to prevent the liquid from evaporating and cook in the oven at 200°C for 1 hour. Serve with rice and zucchini.
