Vegan waffles

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 450 ml rice milk (rice drink)
  • 250 g margarine, vegan
  • 200 g sugar
  • 6 tbsp chia seeds
  • 20 tbsp water
  • 1 packet of baking powder for 500 g flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 3 minutes; Total time approx. 38 minutes

Soak the chia seeds in water, stirring occasionally. This will form a gelatinous mass in about 15 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the margarine and sugar. Mix the flour with the baking powder. Thoroughly mix all ingredients, including the soaked chia seeds, in the bowl. You’ll need about three tablespoons of batter per waffle. In a standard coated waffle iron, these waffles will release easily after baking without additional greasing or oiling.
