Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g walnuts
  • 75 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 ½ tbsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder, rose hot
  • 1 tbsp harissa paste
  • 1 lemon(s), juice
  • 50 ml pomegranate syrup
  • 250 ml sunflower oil
  • 2 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 15 minutes

Muhammara from Lebanon, very spicy paste, suitable as a mezze or starter

Finely chop the walnuts with a knife and then combine with all the other ingredients (except the oil). Stir the mixture thoroughly until all ingredients are well blended. Gradually add the oil and mix well. Let the paste sit in the refrigerator overnight. Add a little more oil the next day, if necessary. Serve cold with flatbread.
