Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g butter
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • some vanilla sugar
  • 100 g walnuts, chopped, with or without skin
  • 300 g flour, sifted

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 25 minutes

My mom’s recipe

Beat the butter, powdered sugar, and egg yolks until smooth. Add a pinch of salt, the vanilla sugar, and the walnuts. Finally, stir in the flour. Knead everything thoroughly and form the dough into two logs. Let the logs rest in the refrigerator for 3 hours until they harden. Then remove them and cut into thick slices. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for about 5 minutes. The dough should not brown.
