Walnut Taler

The perfect walnut taler recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 125 g Ground walnuts
  • 250 g Flour type 405
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 250 g Ice cold butter
  • 100 g Food starch
  • 100 g Powdered sugar
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 1,5 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp Milk
  1. Grind the walnuts, roast them in a pan without fat and let them cool on a plate.
  2. Mix with the flour, baking powder, powdered sugar, starch and vanilla sugar. Cut the cold butter into flakes and add, quickly knead with 2 – 3 tablespoons of cold water to form a smooth dough.
  3. Mix cocoa and sugar on a large plate. Shape the dough into 4 rolls of approx. 4 cm in diameter, brush with milk and immediately roll in the sugar-cocoa mixture. Place in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 175 ° C. Cut the rolls of dough into about 0.5 cm thick slices and do not place them too close to a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake for about 10-15 minutes.
