White cabbage with mushrooms

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 750 g white cabbage
  • 500 g mushrooms
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • 150 g bacon, streaky, smoked, diced
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Caraway, whole
  • Caraway, ground
  • Chili flakes, dried

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Quarter the white cabbage, remove the stalk, and cut into bite-sized pieces. Clean and slice the mushrooms. Fry half of the bacon cubes in a saucepan over medium heat, add the diced onion, and sauté. Add the mushrooms and sauté until al dente. At the same time, fry the remaining bacon cubes in the second saucepan and add the cabbage. Cover and sauté over medium heat until the cabbage reaches the desired bite. Add the mushrooms (without any released liquid) to the cabbage. Mix everything together and season with salt, pepper, caraway, and chili. Serve hot.
