Wruken Grandma's way

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 small turnips (swallows)
  • 4 small potatoes
  • 1 piece(s) of jerked meat or leg of pork
  • 3 pinch(s) black pepper from the mill
  • 4 sausages (Wiener)
  • n. B. water

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel the potatoes, chop them into small pieces, and place them in a large pot. Add enough water to cover the potatoes. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes. Then add the peeled and quartered potatoes. After 10 minutes, add the dried meat to the pot. You can also use a large leg of shank instead of the dried meat. Cook until the potatoes are tender, which will take about another 20 minutes. Remove the meat and mash the vegetables with a masher until they form a paste. Season with pepper, preferably freshly ground. Serve with warm Vienna sausages. This recipe comes from my grandmother in Prussia.
