Wruken Stew According to Great-grandma Heedfeld
The perfect wruken stew according to great-grandma heedfeld recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 kg Wrucke
- 750 g Potatoes
- 500 g Pork meat
- 125 g Bacon
- 2 Onions
- Salt pepper
- 125 ml White wine
- Vegetable broth
- Fat for frying
- Rinse the meat, pat dry and cut into small cubes. Heat the fat in a saucepan and fry the meat cubes all around.
- Peel the onions, dice finely, add to the browned meat and heat briefly.
- Peel the wruke (also: turnip / turnip) and the potatoes, cut into cubes and place in the pot.
- Pour in the white wine and add enough vegetable stock to cover everything with liquid.
- Bring everything to the boil, stir once and then simmer on low heat (without stirring again) for about an hour.
- Season the wruken stew with salt and pepper and serve in preheated soup plates / soup bowls.
