Wruken Stew According to Great-grandma Heedfeld

The perfect wruken stew according to great-grandma heedfeld recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 kg Wrucke
  • 750 g Potatoes
  • 500 g Pork meat
  • 125 g Bacon
  • 2 Onions
  • Salt pepper
  • 125 ml White wine
  • Vegetable broth
  • Fat for frying
  1. Rinse the meat, pat dry and cut into small cubes. Heat the fat in a saucepan and fry the meat cubes all around.
  2. Peel the onions, dice finely, add to the browned meat and heat briefly.
  3. Peel the wruke (also: turnip / turnip) and the potatoes, cut into cubes and place in the pot.
  4. Pour in the white wine and add enough vegetable stock to cover everything with liquid.
  5. Bring everything to the boil, stir once and then simmer on low heat (without stirring again) for about an hour.
  6. Season the wruken stew with salt and pepper and serve in preheated soup plates / soup bowls.
