Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g milk
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 80 g butter
  • 20 g oil
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cube of yeast
  • 600 g flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Combine the milk with the sugar, vanilla sugar, butter, oil, and one egg and heat gently. Dissolve the yeast in it, add the flour, and knead into a yeast dough, adding a little more flour if necessary until the dough is no longer sticky. Divide the dough into three equal parts and braid it. This works best if you braid from the middle to both ends; the braid will then be nice and even. Let it rise for about 45 minutes at 50 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat). Whisk the second egg, brush it over the plait, and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 22-25 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat). This dough can also be used for small pastries.
