Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
upside-down tart, popular
Preheat oven (convection oven: 180°C, top/bottom heat 200°C). Grease a tart tin (approx. 30 cm diameter) with margarine and sprinkle with sugar, or roughly spread the syrup with a spoon. Core the apples with an apple corer. Peel the apples if you like. Cut the apples into approximately 1 cm thick slices and layer them in the tart tin. Sprinkle cranberries or cherries in the spaces between them. Place the puff pastry sheet on top of the fruit in the tart tin and press down lightly. Fold any overhanging pastry onto the pastry sheet. Prick the pastry several times with a fork. Place the tin on the oven rack in the lower third of the oven and bake for approx. 30 minutes. After baking, turn the tart out onto a cake plate and serve warm. The tart is especially delicious with ice cream, vanilla sauce, or cream. Instead of the cranberries or cherries, you can also use raisins and a pinch of cinnamon. Tastes similar to apple strudel.
