Grandma's Apple Pie

Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • Peel 1 kg apples and cut into thin slices (slicing)
  • 250 g butter
  • 250 g sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 350 g flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Cream the butter with sugar, eggs, and vanilla sugar until fluffy. Combine the flour and baking powder and stir in. Fold the apple slices into the batter and then pour into a greased springform pan. Bake at just under 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) for approximately 45-60 minutes. It tastes best served lukewarm with a dollop of whipped cream. The cake is perfect for freezing.
