Walnut Caramel Muffins

Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • 150 ml milk
  • 150 g sugar
  • 250 g flour
  • ½ pack of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 2 m.-sized eggs
  • 130 g butter, soft
  • 150 g walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Heat the milk and set aside. In another saucepan, caramelize 75g of sugar, stirring constantly. Remove the pan from the heat and carefully pour in the hot milk. Stir well until the sugar and any lumps have dissolved. Let cool slightly. Mix the flour, baking powder, 75g of sugar, salt, and vanilla sugar. Add the eggs and fat in small pieces. Mix everything together with the whisk of a hand mixer. Add the caramelized milk. Fold in the walnuts. Place paper baking cups in the wells of the muffin baking tray. Pour in the batter so that the cups are 2/3 full. Bake for approx. 25 minutes. Fan oven: 175°C, electric oven: 200°C. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar.
