Elderberry syrup

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ¾ liter elderberry juice, freshly squeezed
  • 20 g citric acid
  • 1 kg sugar (preserving sugar)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

tried and tested family recipe from Grandma Liese

Measure the freshly squeezed elderberry juice and mix it with the citric acid and preserving sugar in a large pot. Bring to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes, then pour hot into well-cleaned bottles with twist-off lids. The syrup tastes delicious diluted with (mineral) water or, in winter, hot as a tea with lemon and honey. About 3 cl to 200 ml of hot water. It is fever-reducing and rich in vitamin C.
