Plum Cake or Cherry Cake with Marzipan

The perfect plum cake or cherry cake with marzipan recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 750 g Plums
  • 200 g Organic sweet cream butter
  • 150 g Brown raw cane sugar
  • 4 piece Organic eggs size M
  • 150 g Organic whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 100 g Ground almonds
  1. Cut the plums in half (I didn’t cut them all the way, but halving is better). Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.
  2. Mix the softened butter with the cane sugar until creamy. Then stir in the eggs one by one.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder and almonds and add, stir everything well for a moment.
  4. Line a springform pan with parchment paper and spread the batter on it, cover with the plums.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes at 160 degrees, then for another 10 minutes at 180 degrees. Take the cake out of the oven and let it cool down.
  6. Tastes great with whipped cream.
  7. Recipe variant cherry cake: I made the recipe the second time as a cherry cake, see photo. Instead of plums, simply take cherries out of the glass and drain them beforehand. I poured in about 3/4 of the dough and then spread small flakes of marzipan mixture, the remaining dough and then the cherries on top. Sprinkle with cane sugar and cinnamon 5 minutes before the end of the baking time.
