Elderberry-orange jelly with a shot

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 550 g elderberries
  • 350 g orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 100 g rum (honey rum)
  • 500 g gelling sugar (2:1)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 4 hours 40 minutes

Wash the elderberries thoroughly and drain. Combine all ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Let it simmer for at least 3 minutes. Then hold a fine sieve over a bowl and strain the boiling mixture through the sieve. Now fill the jelly into twist-off jars (caution: The jars must be absolutely clean; it’s best to rinse them again with boiling water shortly before use), screw on the lids tightly, and immediately turn them upside down. After two minutes, turn the jars upside down again and let them cool.
