Apple and potato mash

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g potato(s), floury, peeled, weighed
  • 500 g apples, pitted and diced
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 piece(s) lemon(s), untreated
  • 50 g bacon cubes
  • 1 onion(s), diced

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Dice the potatoes and cook them with the apple cubes, salt, sugar, and water until soft. Meanwhile, fry the diced onion and bacon until light brown. Grate the lemon zest and squeeze out the juice. When the potato and apple cubes are soft, simply mash them vigorously with a potato masher, add the roasted onion and bacon cubes, lemon zest, and lemon juice, stir, and season again to taste.
