Ingredients for 10 servings:
- 1,500 g floury potatoes
- 750 ml cream
- 375 g crème fraîche
- 400 g cheese (Gouda)
- 1 garlic clove(s)
- 2 onions
- 300 g bacon
- Salt
- pepper
- nutmeg
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes
Cut the peeled and washed potatoes into thin slices. Mix with 2/3 of the grated cheese and place in a roasting pan or casserole dish rubbed with garlic cloves. Dice the onions and bacon and scatter over the potatoes. Whisk together the cream and crème fraîche and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Spread evenly over the potatoes, sprinkle with the remaining cheese, and cook uncovered on the lowest rack in the oven at 200°C with top and bottom heat for about 60 minutes. Cook with a fan oven at 170°C for about 60 minutes. Pre-cooked potatoes require about 40 minutes.
