  • 5 eggs, for small ones it is better to use 6
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ bottle of bitter almond flavor
  • 2 shots of rum
  • 350 g flour
  • ½ pack of baking powder
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 150 g nuts, ground
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 30 minutes

Waffles with a twist

Using a mixer, beat the oil with the sugar, vanilla sugar, a pinch of salt, and the eggs until fluffy. Add the bitter almond oil and rum and mix in. Mix the flour with the baking powder, sift it into the mixture, and mix on low speed. Add the milk and water to the batter. Finally, stir in the nuts. Chill the batter for 3-4 hours. Lightly grease the waffle iron and bake the waffles until nicely browned. Dust the waffles with powdered sugar. They can also be made a day ahead, as the flavor of the bitter almond oil and rum develops even better the second day.
