Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 onions, peeled, cut into wedges
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ liter of wine (Bordeaux)
  • 100 ml balsamic vinegar
  • 1 clove(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

As a vegetable with potatoes or as a side dish with meat, fish, poultry.

Dissolve the sugar in melted butter. Add the onion wedges and let them caramelize. Deglaze with the vinegar. Add enough wine to cover the onion wedges. Add the cloves and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until the wine is almost completely reduced. The onions are then thoroughly cooked. If desired, add a little more vinegar to add more acidity.
