Tomato-Apple-Chutney

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1.750 g tomatoes, green, roughly chopped
  • 500 g apples, peeled, finely chopped
  • 2 clove(s) garlic, chopped
  • 250 g sultanas
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cucumber(s) – pickling spice
  • 25 g ginger, chopped
  • 1 chili pepper(s)
  • 600 ml vinegar
  • 500 g brown sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour

Place the tomatoes, apples, and onions in a saucepan with the garlic, sultanas, and salt. Place the cucumber seasoning, ginger, and chili in a muslin bag, tie the bag, and place it in the pan. Pour in half the vinegar and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer gently for 1 hour, until the chutney has reduced to a thick puree. Dissolve the sugar in the remaining vinegar and add to the chutney. Simmer gently for a further 1.5 hours, stirring frequently, or until the chutney has thickened. Remove the muslin bag. Ladle the chutney, still hot, into prepared jars. Seal the jars immediately.
