Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 700 g fig(s), fresh, chopped
  • 6 tbsp sugar, brown
  • 13 tbsp balsamic vinegar, white
  • 3 tbsp mustard, medium hot
  • 1 tsp chili sauce, super hot, or other chili substitute
  • 150 g jam (kiwi-pineapple jam), alternatively apricot jam
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp herbs, optional

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Bring the fresh figs and sugar to a boil in a saucepan, let them caramelize slightly, and then add the remaining ingredients. Simmer for about 5 minutes, then blend thoroughly with a hand blender and simmer gently for another 10 minutes. Immediately pour the mixture while still hot into the prepared jars. Makes 2 large and 2 small jars. Don’t make too much, as it will only keep for about 4 weeks in the refrigerator.
