Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 6 rolls, from the day before
- 250 ml cream
- 3 eggs
- 1 tbsp clarified butter
- 200 g bacon, sliced
- 1 onion(s) (vegetable onion)
- 120 g mountain cheese, grated
- 3 tbsp butter, in flakes
- Salt
- nutmeg
- pepper
- Paprika powder
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 20 minutes
Cut the rolls into cubes and toast briefly. Bring the cream to a boil briefly and pour over the rolls. Let stand for 15 minutes and then squeeze out the excess liquid. Separate the eggs. Mix the egg yolks with the roll mixture and season. Melt the clarified butter, cut the bacon into 2cm strips and fry until crispy. Add the sliced onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes. Season to taste. Let cool and combine with the roll mixture. Spread the mixture in a baking dish. Bake at 200°C for approx. 15-20 minutes. Mix the cheese with the breadcrumbs and butter flakes and spread over the casserole. Bake for another 10-15 minutes. Let rest in the oven for approx. 10 minutes.
