Saarland Maggi butter with a twist

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g butter
  • 2 stalks of lovage (Maggi herb), fresh
  • 10 stalks of fresh garlic chives
  • some chili flakes or chili powder
  • 1 pinch(s) of coarse sea salt
  • 2 cloves garlic

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 15 minutes

Remove the butter from the refrigerator and let it soften at room temperature for 2 hours. Place the lovage, garlic chives, chili flakes, salt, and peeled garlic in a fine-tooth blender and chop finely. If you don’t have a blender, finely chop everything with a knife. Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix with a fork until smooth. Let it harden and steep in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Tips: The amount of lovage, garlic chives, and chili can be varied to your liking. The more lovage you use, the more “Maggi flavor” the butter will have. For true Saarlanders, Maggi is a staple food, so you can add a few more lovage stalks.
