Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 tbsp margarine
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 300 ml water or vegetable stock
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 4 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

vegan cheese substitute

Melt the margarine in a saucepan, then stir in the flour. Add the water or vegetable stock, stirring constantly. Add the mustard, as well as salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the nutritional yeast; this will create a thick, runny mixture. This yeast mixture is used to top pizza or casseroles, for example. Tip: You can also add herbs or spices, if desired.
