Goulash soup

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 375 g beef
  • 5 tbsp lard, for roasting
  • 375 g onion(s)
  • Broth or water
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 can/n Tomato paste, or 1/2 tube
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • ½ tsp caraway seeds, whole
  • marjoram
  • Lemon(s) peel
  • 1 tbsp flour, for thickening if needed

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cut the meat into small cubes. Heat the fat, brown the meat, add the very finely chopped onions, and lightly brown. Add water or broth several times and reduce until the onions are completely cooked. Season the soup with salt and pepper. Add the tomato paste and simmer gently over low heat for about 1 hour. Season again to taste. Finally, stir the paprika powder into hot lard for 2 seconds until it foams and then pour it into the soup. Boil the crushed caraway seeds, marjoram, and perhaps a little lemon zest in water. Add the broth to the soup.
