Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 slices of bread
- 4 slice(s) ham, cooked
- 400 g cheese (Gruyère or other strong cheese)
- white wine, dry
- 4 eggs
- pepper
- butter

Cheese slices from Switzerland
Lightly brown the 1-1.5 cm thick slices of bread in a pan with butter. Place the slices on a baking sheet and drizzle with a little wine. If you have ovenproof dishes, you can also place the slices directly on plates. Place the ham slices on the bread; they should cover the bread well. Cover generously with the thinly sliced cheese and bake in the oven at about 180°C until the cheese melts. Fry the eggs in a pan and sprinkle with pepper, then serve on the croute. Serve with salad. I sometimes skip the ham and add more cheese.
