Soljanka, from My Colleague from Thuringia

The perfect soljanka, from my colleague from thuringia recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Onion
  • 800 g Sausage of your choice
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 250 ml Vegetable broth
  • 1 big glass Letscho
  • 1 Peppers yellow
  • 1 Red peppers
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • 4 Juniper berries
  • 1 half Lemon
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • 1 pinch Garlic pepper
  • 1 pinch Paprika powder
  • 6 Pickles
  • 6 Baguette
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Sour cream
  1. Peel the onion and cut into cubes. Cut the sausage into cubes. I took meat sausage, smoked lyon, salami and Landjäger! Clean, wash and dice the peppers. Also dice the pickles. Squeeze lemon!
  2. Heat the oil in a saucepan, fry the onions until translucent, roast the tomato paste, then add the sausage cubes and brown them briefly! Then add the peppers! Deglaze with vegetable stock and letscho! Add bay leaves (when they are fresh) and juniper berries and cook for about 15 minutes!
  3. Then season with seasoned salt, garip pepper, sugar, paprika powder and lemon juice, season to taste! Add the pickles! Let it steep for another 5 minutes!
  4. There was sour cream with fresh baguette!
  5. I almost finished the pot before eating, really had to control myself! 😀
