Elisen Gingerbread; Recipe from My Grandma

The perfect elisen gingerbread; recipe from my grandma recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

for the cast:

  • 300 g Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 500 g Ground almonds or nuts
  • 50 g Orange peel
  • 50 g Citronat (Succade)
  • 1 tsp Ground carnations
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Msp Nutmeg
  • 1 pinch Pepper
  • Zest of two lemons and the juice of half a lemon
  • 200 g Powdered sugar
  • 30 g Cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp Hot milk
  • 20 g Liquid coconut fat
  1. Mix the sugar and eggs in the food processor until frothy. Mix in the remaining ingredients.
  2. Spread the mixture on wafers (diameter approx. 7 cm). Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for approx. 15 – 20 minutes at 180 degrees top / bottom heat.
  3. Mix the ingredients for the topping and brush the gingerbread with them.
