Peppermint Syrup
The perfect peppermint syrup recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1000 g Sugar
- 500 ml Water
- 4 Hands full Fresh mint leaves
- Wash mint leaves in cold water, chop finely and finely puree with 200 g sugar.
- Boil the water with 800 g sugar until the sugar has dissolved. Add mint puree, stir well and simmer gently over medium heat for approx. 5 minutes. Stir it every now and then. The sugar from the mint puree must also have completely dissolved.
- Remove the pot from the heat, let the mixture cool down. Then – but still slightly lukewarm – pour through a sieve lined with a cloth. Fill into bottles and store in the refrigerator.
- Don’t be afraid of the high sugar content, but it’s a highly concentrated syrup. It is used in moderation. It gets a honey-like consistency in the refrigerator. Possibly hold the bottle a little under hot water before use.
- The above quantity refers to a portion of approx. 850 ml.
