Bean Stew with Fried Cod
The perfect bean stew with fried cod recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
The beans :
- 120 g Black eyed beans
- 120 g Cannellini beans
- 120 g Red kidney beans
- 120 g Borlotti beans
- 150 g Green beans
- 4 Pc. Bay leaves
- 12 Pc. Cloves
- 1 Pc. Onion cut into 4
- 4 Pc. Garlic clove unpeeled
Prepare vegetables for the stew:
- 2 Pc. Roughly chopped onion
- 5 Pc. Coarsely chopped garlic
- 3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Pc. Diced carrot
- 80 g Diced celery
- 80 g Diced leek
- 1 Pc. Celery stalk diced
- 3 Pc. Peeled and diced tomatoes
- 1 El Tomato puree
- 1 El Thyme, oregano, savory
- 1 Pc. Chili pepper finely chopped
Cod for 2 pers. marinate:
- 2 Pc. Cod frozen, surfaced
- Salt, pepper, dill,
- 0,5 Pc. Lemon just the juice
- 3 tbsp Flour
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 0,5 Bd Chopped parsley
The day before :
- Soak all kinds of beans individually. Cook the green beans until they are firm to the bite, then rinse with cold water, strain and store in the refrigerator until the day after.
Cooking beans:
- Cook each variety in its soaking water with 1/4 onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 bay leaf, 3 cloves and 1 pinch of savory until firm to the bite. Strain, keep cooking water. In the meantime, heat OIL, sauté onions, garlic and tomato puree in it, add vegetables, sauté for a moment, add beans and fill up with the cooking water, simmer gently for 15-20 minutes.
Fry fish:
- Remove the fish from the marinade, dab a little in the flour, fry on both sides until crispy.
Serving:
- Arrange beans on a preheated plate and place the fish on top. Sprinkle with parsley. Serve hot. There was also fresh baguette bread.

- The beans are calculated for two meals. I also want a bean soup for Saturday evening. Whenever possible I cook 1 time and make 2 dishes out of it.
