Poppy Seed Sticks
The perfect poppy seed sticks recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 130 g Wheat flour
- 60 g Manitoba flour
- 20 g Butter
- 0,5 tsp Salt
- 0,5 cube Fresh yeast
- 50 ml Lukewarm water
- 60 ml Lukewarm milk
- 4 tbsp Poppy

- If you don’t have Manitoba flour on hand, you can use regular wheat flour for the whole amount.
Preparation of the poppy seed sticks
- Mix the flours with the salt well. Spread the butter in flakes on the flour. Crumble the yeast and add the water and milk. Now knead really well with the dough hook of the food processor.
- Now form 5 balls out of the dough and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and cover and leave to rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
- Spread the poppy seeds on a flat plate. Shape the balls into sticks, brush them with water and roll them in the poppy seeds, put them back on the baking sheet and cover them in a warm place until the volume has doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 220 degrees and bake the sticks in the middle for about 20-25 minutes and then let them cool down.
